The Space of Experience
Vladimir Yankilevsky (1938–2018) was a key figure of Moscow's unofficial art. At the 1962 Manege exhibition his works were criticised by Nikita Khrushchev. The Space of Experience is one of his key cycles, made mostly in pastel. He moved to New York in 1990 and to Paris in 1992. His works are in the Tretyakov Gallery, the Russian Museum, the Centre Pompidou and the Zimmerli Art Museum (USA).
