Alexander Grigoriev began in Leningrad, where he met Lev Nusberg, leader of the kinetic group Dvizhenie (Movement). From 1967 to 1972 he was a member of the group, making kinetic objects and taking part in its projects. In 1969 he moved to Moscow. He built his abstraction from elementary geometric units in pursuit of optical illusion. His works are in museum collections in Russia and Germany.
