Mikhail Roginsky (1931–2004) is often called a forerunner of Russian Pop Art. In 1965 he painted The Red Door with a real door handle; one version is in the Tretyakov Gallery. His subjects were walls, tiles, kettles and primus stoves, the objects of Soviet everyday life. In 1978 he emigrated to Paris.
