From the series Abstractions
Boris Turetsky (1928–1997) was one of the pioneers of abstraction in Soviet unofficial art. Born in Voronezh, he studied at art schools in Penza and Moscow and, by correspondence, at the Moscow Polygraphic Institute. From the mid-1950s he worked in parallel in colour painting and black-and-white graphics. From the mid-1970s he turned to assemblage. His ink drawings are held by the Tretyakov Gallery and the Zimmerli Art Museum (USA).
